Agh...why am I here? I thought I hate the mall....and shopping in general...
But Haru knew why he was here. It was a lazy Saturday, and he was in no mood for video games today. It was raining, so the park was a bad idea. No better place to be then the mall right? Wrong....
A sigh escaped Haru. He really wished he had more friends to hang out with. Too many people avoided him at school for this to happen. He was an outcast, no mater how hard he tried. Why me? Why not the dorky kid with the glasses? Right, he's not weird enough... Just then, something pierced the silence of around Haru. It was his stomach. Apparently he was hungry. "Heheh..." He chuckled nervously as the people around him turned at the noise.
Curse you nature....Might as well get something to eat....
He turned to the right, and began to head for the food court.

Temia walked into the mall. Her dark clothes stood out against the crowd of people. People started to stare at her. She heaved a big sigh. It wasn't that she didn't want to stand out, she just wished people didn't make such a big deal out of it.
Why am I here again....? Oh yeah, Mother Dear wanted me to make friends...
She looked around. People were crowding into stores and food courts. They joked, laughed, and ate. She noticed a small group of girls wearing all pink and giggling.
Why would I want to become friends with girls who are preps?
Temia sat on a bench next to a food court. The group of girls stared at her and laughed.
They won't be laughing when- She caught herself. Mother Dear wouldn't want me to hurt people...
Temia glared hatefully at the girls and looked away. She let out another sigh and started watching people pass by.

Okay, I know I'm hungry. But what do I want to eat?
Haru stood a distance away from the food court, still deciding on what he should eat. Fast Food never really appealed to him, unless it was pizza, but he doubted they had it here. Hamburgers sound good...but they're just big balls of grease....A salad? No, that seems a little.....girlish.... Haru grunted in impatience. He could have stayed here all day and it wouldn't have made a difference. He would have come to the same conclusion.
Fast food sucks.
I know. I'll just get some fries and a soda. Good old fries, never let me down before. He began to make his way to the food court, but walking wasn't good enough. His stomach almost hurt in hunger, and walking wouldn't get him there fast enough. Screw this, time to make a break for it! He began to run towards the food. An unwise decision on his part.
The floor was polished smooth, and running would only result in injury. Leave it to Haru to not think of that. He feet slipped from under him and he felt himself make contact with the floor. The people around him began to laugh at his stupidity.
Great...what a day this is turning out to be....

Temia heard laughing. She turned around to see what happened. A boy apparently slipped and fell.
Why's everyone laughing...? It wasn't that funny....
She got up and walked over towards the boy. "You ok?" She held her hand out for him to take it so he could get up. She didn't care if he was older and bigger than her, she knew what it was like to be laughed at and it wasn't a good feeling. "You have to be more careful."
Temia glared at the people around her. "Can't you guys give anyone a break around here!?" she snapped. "You wouldn't like it if you were laughed at, would you!?"
She directed her attention to the boy. "Ignore them. Your fall wasn't a big deal."

"You okay?"
Haru looked up. Huh? A girl stood above him, her hand stretched out so she could help him up. She looked smaller and younger than him, with blonde hair in ponytails and all black clothes on. He lifted himself up, jumping to a standing position. "I'm fine, just fine, thank-" He was cut off as the girl began to shout at everyone who was laughing at him.
"Can't you guys give anyone a break around here!? You wouldn't like it if you were laughed at, would you!?"
Haru blushed a little. This was the first time anyone really tried to defend him since his brother died. He didn't expect anyone, much less a girl he didn't know, to stand up for him. "Really, it's okay. I'm fine...." The people seemed to have gotten bored and left them alone, going off back to their own business.
"Ignore them. Your fall wasn't a big deal."
"It's okay. I fall often. My fault really for trying to run on polished floor." He dusted himself off, not that there was much to dust. The floor was probably cleaned hourly. He turned his face back to the girl and smiled. "My names Haru. Thanks for, you know, standing up for me. I could have handled it on my own."

Temia looked up at Haru. "I'm Temia." She felt very small compared to him. "...Sorry about my outburst, I just don't like it when people laugh at other people if they're not trying to be funny." "...Wait, were you trying to be funny?"
Temia spoke under her breath. "If you were trying to be funny then I just embarrassed myself..."
She curled a strand of her hair that fell out of one of the hair ties. "Why were you running anyway?" Temia looked around shortly before directing her attention to Haru. "Yeah, I know I talk alot and ask lots of questions. It's just that, my family just moved here and I barely have friends...."
Wow....it's amazing how for me not having any friends here that I'm talking up a storm with a random person...
Temia sat at a near bench, folded her hands behind her head, and closed her eyes. She sighed, opened her eyes, and took in the surroundings before closing her eyes again.

This girl.....she talks very fast.... Haru had a hard time keeping up with her. She seemed to finish one question, and before he could even answer, she'd start talking again. It was like talking to a young child. Only taller.
"Yeah, I know I talk alot and ask lots of questions. It's just that, my family just moved here and I barely have friends...."
Haru tilted his head to the side. No....friends? Just like me...... The girl seemed lonely, and Haru could easily tell when someone is lonely. He had been feeling the same way for seven years. The girl went and sat down on a small bench and closed her eyes. She look very relaxed. A state Haru probably could never achieve with out medicine.
His stomach growled once more, and he remembered his reason for going to this section of the mall. He walked to the girl. "Hey, you want to get something to eat? My stomachs been killing me, and my brother always told me to never leave people without food!" He smirked at his brother's quote. It always made him feel like he was right there for him.

Temia opened her eyes. "You're asking a fourteen year old goth girl to go get something to eat with you?" She normally wasn't even talked to so this was a big shock. She stood up and smiled slightly.
She closed her eyes and maneuvered her way to Haru. Temia had what some people called 'a photographic memory'. Only she couldn't memorize sentences or books like other people who had photographic memories, but she could memorize the lay out of rooms. Temia doesn't try to memorize the lay out unless she's relaxed, then it come automatically.
When she realized that she maneuvered her way around the mall in public, she opened her eyes and acted like nothing happened. People often made fun of her ability so now she doesn't use it often. Temia looked around to make sure no one saw her move around the mall with her eyes closed.
She noticed two girls staring at her. She sighed.
Great, if they saw, someone else must've saw too...now I seem even more weird to them...
