This is the first chapter of my fanfic. Enjoy! ^^
Chapter One~ The End of a Dream, the Beginning of a Story
(introduction)
We now join the Hyuuga sisters, Hinata and Hanabi. They are, just as usual, fighting over who's cuter- Naruto or Konohamaru. “Kono is so cute!” Shouted Hanabi at her sister. “Oh please! Kono basically shadows himself to be like *sigh* Naruto-kun.” The two now glared at each other in an angered way.

Two Weeks Later...
“Happy Birthday, Hinata-chan!” said a group of people that the Hyuuga girls knew well. As soon as Hinata blew out the candles and made her wish, Naruto walked through the door of the Hyuuga household, escorting Sakura. Hinata gasped as she watched the two walk through the door. “N-Naruto-kun!” she said in a quiet exclamation. She tapped her fingers together as her face turned a bright shade of pink. She then heard the familiar voice of the Haruno girl say softly, “C'mon, Naruto! We're only here to drop off our gifts. Then, we leave.” Hinata's smile faded.
Curiously, Hanabi walked over to Naruto and Sakura. “Hi, guys!” she said cheerfully. She glanced back at her sister's upset look as she too heard Sakura talking to Naruto. “Why can't you stay?” she said with her confidence beginning to lose it's childish glow as her sister's mood seemed to mellow her to a serious tone on things. She gazed seriously at the pair, studying them. It took her a while, but Hanabi gasped as she realized that Naruto was firmly clasping Sakura's hand. She gulped. Naruto smiled widely, “I convinced Sakura to stop by to give Hinata her presents and wish her a happy birthday. After this, we have a date.”
Both the Hyuuga girls froze in what they were doing. “D-D-Date!?” they said simultaneously. Hanabi, who had much confidence and never stuttered, had been brought to a shaky tone of voice by this. Hanabi looked towards her sister. Hinata's chin rested on her chest. She was trying to hide tears. Many people in the crowd began to frantically ask, “Hinata, what's wrong? This is your special day! Cheer up!” as others encouraged her, “Aw, whatever is upsetting you will be okay, Hinata! Open my gift! It'll cheer you right up!”. It was beginning to worry the crowd. Soon, Hanabi turned to Naruto.
Naruto and Sakura's eyes met. They shared a silent conversation. Hanabi looked at her sister with sisterly love in her eyes. I never felt so sorry for Hinata... she thought, ... that I would actually feel like crying myself.... Naruto asked Hanabi, “What's wrong with your sister?” as Sakura said curiously, “Did we do something wrong?” Hanabi's eyes grew in rage as she watched her sister say, “N-N-No.... i-it's okay....r-really....” I have to do something! I can't let my sister be upset on her birthday! Hanabi hardly ever felt compassion for her sister's feelings but today was Hinata's day to shine and Naruto and Sakura just ruined all of her dreams for the future.
After a long silence, Hanabi couldn't take it. Her rage ate up her self-control as she blurted out angrily, “The problem is you, Naruto! Why did you ever even show up bringing that poor excuse of a girl as your date!?”
The crowd gasped. Konohamaru was on the sidelines watching. He had just walked in in the midst of the action. He saw Hinata's face and Naruto with Sakura. He then listened to Hanabi's exclamation of rage. His face lightened up a bit. He had never expected Hanabi, of all people, to defend her sister. Kono shouted proudly, “Tell 'em, Hanabi-chan!” as he stood up on a chair. Hinata's head lifted off of her chest and looked up with big eyes. Wh-Wha?! She thought to herself.
Naruto looked at Sakura and then at Hinata. Sakura walked out the door. Naruto put his gift to Hinata and Sakura's gift as well, on a table near him. He then left after whispering, “Happy birthday, Hinata...” He followed Sakura out the door as Hanabi added, “and don't come back!!”
Later that Night
Dear Diary,
Happy birthday to me.... This has been one of the worst birthdays ever for me. Naruto is apparently dating Sakura... He didn't even stay for my party! I'm in the midst of opening gifts right now. So far, here's my list.
Neji- “Chicken Soup for the Shy girl's soul”
(I read one chapter. This book pwns!)
Hanabi- “#1 Sister Ribbon
(Hanabi actually cares?!)
Lee- A “youthful” green jumpsuit
(... I'm going to say that my inviable cat ate it. ^^)
Sakura(I HATE YOU SAKURA!)- a coupon for Gertrude Hawk's Chocolate
(...chocolate will never taste the same again!)
Naruto- “Chicken Ramen for the Ramen Lover's soul”
(I will never eat ramen again!)
Kiba- an “I <3 my Teammate's Ninja Dog!” T-shirt
(It's just my size!)
Shino- “The Little Grasshopper that Could”
(It's about bugs and it's supposed to lift self confidence!)
Sasuke- Fifty cents and a card
(The card says, “I hardly know you... Here's my change from buying lunch the other day.)
I only have one gift left. It's from... someone. There's a card!
I opened the gift! It's just what I wanted! “Evil Schemes for Beginners- by Uchiha Itachi” The card said, “Dear Hinata, Happy birthday! I saw your invitation on my darling little brother's dresser the other day and I decided to get you a gift when I heard that all he was giving you was his pocket change. Enjoy!” How Cool!
