As Temari was hanging up some tinsel, she smiled over the other two in the house. Kankuro was happily singing Christmas carols as he played his video games. Gaara, however, was not in the Christmas Spirit. This bothered her. "I sure hope that Gaara cheers up for Christmas..." She thought to herself. Now, Temari was well aware of Gaara's lack of cheer, but, she still wished for a happy household on Christmas.
Kankuro walked into his room, away from his precious game, to wrap everyone's gifts. He was halted by a voice. "Kankuro, where are you going? You have to help me decorate!" He thought it over in his head before responding, "Jeez, sis. I'll help you later. I have to go in my room." He watched as Temari blinked. "Why? You hardly leave your game!" He thought for a couple of minutes before he finally said, "I... uh... have to go... um... count my socks! Buh bye! See you in an hour, to help you decorate and stuff!" Before Temari had the chance to say anything else, he hurried up the stairs. He took out the gifts for everyone, and sloppily wrapped each one of them.
As Kankuro rushed downstairs, Temari said quickly, "Kankuro, we should try to talk some spirit into Gaara. They walked over to him. Gaara was in his room, as usual. They smiled weakly as they walked up to him. "Hey Gaara..." Temari weakly said.
"What?" Gaara responded.
"Merry Christmas!" Kankuro bursted in, giving him a hug.
Gaara's eye creepily twitched as he said, "Get off of me..."
"Gaara... why do you seem so low?" Temari chimed in.
Kankuro said, "Yeah, Gaara. It's Christmas!"
Before the conversation continued, Gaara walked out of the room. Temari followed him, and Kankuro stayed behind, hoping that his sister could sort things out.
"Gaara..." Temari said softly.
"What?!" Gaara snapped.
"Will you cheer up a little?"
"No."
"What if...."
"...What?"
"We played DDR! That ALWAYS cheers you up!"
"...It is fun to watch Kankuro lose to me..."
"Will that put you in the Christmas spirit?"
"HELL NO!"
She watched him storm out of the hallway.
That night, Temari and Kankuro stuffed Gaara's stocking full of gifts and wrote a note- From Santa. They hoped that the visit from Santa would cheer him up, and bring him in the spirit.
"Hey Gaara!" Shrieked Kankuro into Gaara's room.
"What do you want?!" Gaara snapped back.
"Put out some cookies and milk for the fat man!!!"
"What fat man? You?"
"...No... Santa!"
"Who?"
"The fat man who travels around the world and gives presents to good little girls and boys!"
"Why would he even stop here then? No one here is a good little girl and or boy!"
"Still!"
"WILL IT MAKE YOU SHUT UP!?"
"Yes...."
"Fine..."
Everyone went to bed, after they helped Gaara leave the cookies out on the table.
That night, Kankuro sneaked down into the kitchen. He ate the cookies, leaving crumbs, as if someone was in a hurry. He smiled as he creped back into his room.
The next day, when Temari and Kankuro woke up, they rushed into Gaara's room.
"Hey Gaara!" The two chimed.
"...Whatever..."Gaara said unenthusiastically.
"Santa Clause left you a gift!" Temari said with a wide smile.
"But... I wasn't good..." Gaara said with a monotone voice.
"Uh... she meant Santa Claws! The Evil Version of Santa Clause that gives all the bad kids presents!"
The two stared at Gaara, in hope that he would smile. Instead, they sighed unhappily as he walked out of the room.
"Gaara! Why aren't you happy?!" Kankuro scolded. "Do you really want to see Temari Cry?! ...Okay... I know you do... but still!"
Gaara whipped around to face them. He had much anger on his face. He looked as if he were about to kill them with his signature move, funk coffin.
"Listen!!" He shouted at them, as Temari held back tears. "I have my reason for not being happy and cheerful today!"
"WHAT?!" Kankuro snapped back.
Gaara looked at them, as he finally announced. "I'm Jewish! I celebrate Chanukkah!"
"What the Fuck did you just say?!" They chimed in, astonished.
"GAARA JUST SAID A WORD WITH A HARD "CH"!!!" Kankuro pointed out, amazed.
Gaara slapped himself in the face. "Didn't you two idiots notice my menorah? Or the fact that I was giving you a gift every day for eight days and spinning the dreidel with you?"
They both blinked. "No wonder he's so grouchy during Christmas! Chanukka is way under publicized and Christmas is overly popular!" Temari said.
Gaara shot them each a glare as he exited the room. Temari and Kankuro sat there, still in shock. "What...?" Kankuro said, not quite understanding what was going on. "Merry Christmas, brother!" Temari said cheerfully, changing the subject. "Merry Christmas...?" Kankuro replied.
